Admission Control of Real-Time Tasks
In some real-time systems/applications such as game and multimedia servers, it is necessary to accept or reject new tasks in an online fashion. For this purpose, fast and yet accurate admission control tests are required. An admission control test needs to evaluate the requirements of arriving tasks and decide whether they can be allocated to a processing unit in the system or not.
At RCS, we have worked so far on admission control algorithms that make use of simple task models. In this thesis, different ways of modeling real-time execution demand should be investigated and novel admission control mechanisms should be tested particularly in the context of emerging cloud computing applications. For more information see the page of the project Admission Control for Multiprocessor Platforms.
